There are many reasons why people stay in education or go back into education, one of the main reasons being to better themselves and their career prospects. By completing a diploma in education and training you can do just that. This is a Level 5 course and so you’d need to be someone with commitment and perseverance, but if you think this ticks all your boxes, then read on.
What does the diploma allow you to do?
It gives you the opportunity to train and teach in various settings and contexts. There are colleges in London, such as Ilford, that will give you the opportunity to apply for this course. It will help and encourage you to gain a range of teaching and training skills and experiences.
What paths can I take with this qualification?
This qualification will give you 120 credits, which can be put towards a top up degree. You may also be given the opportunity to select a specific pathway, therefore opening up opportunities for specialisms. As you will have to have your DBS checks (Disclosure and Barring Service), this will also enable you to work with children outside of education. Therefore, if you want to help with your local Scouts or Guides groups, you will be welcomed with open arms!
In what other ways does this qualification help you?
When you pass the course, you will be a qualified teacher and trainer. This will help you if you are interested in furthering your training prospects. For example, you can use this to enter the ‘training’ industry as many teachers have. It also gives you the opportunity to become a lecturer in the FE sector, which is more exposed to links with industry and businesses.
As someone with a diploma in education and training, you can also move into different specialisms. One such specialism would be an assessor, where you can be trained to become an Internal and/or External Verifier (IV and/or EV). This gives you the opportunity to travel to other schools or colleges or any work-based placements and ‘assess’ the work and grades of the students on a particular course. There is usually a high demand for both IVs and EVs; therefore completing this course would help you further your career prospects and perhaps become a Lead Verifier.
With these opportunities, why not give it a go?
