We know that accessing finance is a vital part of turning your business idea into reality. Below are some trusted, government-backed schemes and guidance that can support you.
Apply for a government-backed Start Up Loan to start or grow your business. Unlike a standard business loan, this is an unsecured personal loan – you'll need to pass a credit check.
What you'll get
- Free support and guidance to help write your business plan
- Up to 12 months of free mentoring if successful
If you are seeking investment, you can apply for Venture Capital Schemes. These offer tax reliefs to investors who back early-stage businesses.

- Your property's rateable value is less than £15,000
- Your business only uses one property (exceptions apply)
Redbridge Council – Occupied Properties Only
If your business is based in Redbridge, you may be eligible for Small Business Rate Relief on your occupied property. You can apply if you only use one property and your property's rateable value is less than £15,000.
What You Get
- Properties valued under £12,000 — no business rates to pay
- Properties valued £12,001–£15,000 — graduated relief from 100% to 0%
If You Use More Than One Property
- Each additional property must have a rateable value of less than £2,900
- Total combined rateable value must not exceed £27,999
