Taught by Practitioners, Not Just Professors
Our health & social care faculty combines academic learning with real practitioner and clinical experience — bringing safeguarding, leadership and person-centred practice to life in every classroom.
Before joining Mont Rose College (MRC) in April 2017, I worked as a Health Professional Educationist in my home country at a public-sector Health Sciences University. In the UK, my first academic role was as a Module Leader for Clinical Medicine and Human Functional Anatomy for approximately 8 years in a Healthcare Higher Education Institution. This was followed by joining MRC in a leading academic role. I am a Registered Medical Practitioner and Clinician in my home country, and my Primary Medical Qualification (MBBS) is also approved by the General Medical Council (GMC) UK to practise Medicine in the UK.
I have been working as a Health and Social Care Lecturer at Mont Rose College for about two and a half years, and was recently promoted to Deputy Manager of the HND in Health and Social Care. I am passionate about Special Educational Needs, a fascinating domain where I worked for about 5 years as a teaching assistant, learning support assistant and Autism worker, and also as a team leader and support worker for children and young adults with Autism. I hold a degree in Health and Social Care and am also a qualified Journalist, having worked for many years as a Journalist and Editor in the educational and health sector. At the moment I am studying for my Postgraduate Certificate in Education. I truly believe in the power of education to change people's lives, and in the power of human connection as a factor of transformation and inspiration.
What Our Students Say
During the course the lecturers were fabulous — whenever I needed help they went way above and beyond to support me. When I started I had my children, so I'd stay at the library to finish my assignments. It was challenging to be a mother and better myself at the same time, but Mont Rose supported me all the way.
I've been a health care professional for 17 years, and now I'm pursuing my HND in Health & Social Care at Mont Rose College. The knowledge I'm gaining makes me more effective — I'm currently studying pharmacology, which helps me understand safety and risk in medication.
I've been a student at Mont Rose College studying an HND in Health and Social Care for two wonderful years. These years have been very rewarding — with the help of the teachers it was easy to understand the course material. This course has been so helpful, as I've always wanted to open a care home back in my home country, Congo. The teachers taught me how to practise health and social care with patience.
Coming to college to gain more knowledge has really enhanced my understanding of the job. The teachers are very supportive and understanding — they sit with you one to one to make sure you understand exactly what you need to do.
