On Tuesday, the 21st of May 2025, Mont Rose College proudly hosted its much-anticipated Multicultural Day — a heartwarming celebration of diversity, unity, and cultural expression. The event took place across the college cafeteria and the vibrant garden space of Mont Rose House, bringing together students and staff for an afternoon filled with joy, colour, and community spirit.
From 12:00 to 2:00 PM, the college grounds were transformed into a lively festival of cultures. The event was more than just a party; it was a shared experience that embodied the values of inclusivity and togetherness at the heart of Mont Rose College’s ethos. Flags, traditional clothing, and music from around the world created a warm and festive atmosphere that welcomed everyone with open arms.
One of the day’s main highlights was the delicious variety of food shared by attendees. In addition to a savoury BBQ offering grilled favourites, students and staff brought traditional dishes from their own cultures, each carefully labelled with its name and ingredients. Among the many treats, the flavourful and authentic “sarmale” — traditional Romanian cabbage rolls filled with meat and rice- undoubtedly stole the spotlight. Equally popular were the aromatic Asian dishes that added rich spices and variety to the culinary experience.
The event wasn’t just about food but a complete celebration of culture. Traditional music and dance performances lit up the cafeteria, with students proudly showcasing routines passed down through generations. Attendees were encouraged to wear their traditional clothes, and the variety of garments on display was a powerful visual reminder of the many cultures represented in the Mont Rose College community.
But what made Multicultural Day truly special was how it brought people together. Staff and students danced, laughed together, and shared stories behind their traditional foods and customs. For many, it was a rare opportunity to connect on a deeper level, learn about their peers’ backgrounds, and feel part of something bigger — a diverse and united college family.
Though the music had faded and plates were packed away, the memories and sense of connection stayed with everyone. Multicultural Day at Mont Rose College was not just an event but a celebration of who we are as a community. It reminded us that while we may come from different places and backgrounds, it is in our shared experiences and mutual respect that we find true unity. We look forward to continuing this beautiful tradition for years to come.
