The Angel Business Competition is Mont Rose College’s flagship entrepreneurship challenge, an exciting opportunity for students to pitch innovative business ideas, receive expert mentorship, and compete for funding and recognition.
Whether you’re a first-time founder or an aspiring business leader, this competition offers a unique platform to develop your idea, sharpen your entrepreneurial skills, and take your first steps toward launching a real venture.
What Is the Angel Business Competition?
The Angel Business Competition is open to all MRC students from any academic discipline with a business idea or an existing venture they wish to grow. MRC students can participate individually or in teams (up to 4 members) and receive support throughout the process, from application to the final pitch.
Participants benefit from:
- Tailored mentorship from MRC’s Business Department.
- Workshops on finance, marketing, and planning.
- Pitch practice with expert feedback.
- A live final where finalists present to a panel of judges.
Finalists compete for funding, professional recognition, and a chance to showcase their ideas to industry guests and potential investors.

Who can apply?
Any currently enrolled MRC student, from any department or level of study.
Can I apply as a team?
Yes. You can enter as a solo applicant or as a team of up to 4 students.
Do I need a fully developed business?
No. You can apply with just an idea. The competition helps you develop it through expert guidance.
What kinds of ideas are accepted?
All sectors are welcome—tech, retail, food, beauty, health, social enterprises, and more.
How do I apply?
Complete the official application form and submit it before the deadline. You will be invited for an interview if shortlisted.
Is my idea protected?
Yes. All applicants sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement to ensure their business ideas remain confidential.
What do judges look for?
Judges evaluate:
- Innovation and originality

- Presentation delivery
Do I need to present a prototype?
Yes. The first stage includes a product or concept showcase—a menu, visual board, sample, or prototype.
When does the final take place?
The final usually takes place toward the end of the academic year. Exact dates will be confirmed during the mentoring stage.
