COURSE OVERVIEW

Mont Rose College of Management & Sciences offers a Top-Up Hons degree in Business Management course, in partnership with Buckinghamshire New University.

INTENDED LEARNING OUTCOMES

Knowledge and Understanding

On successful completion of the programme a graduate will be able to:

  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of key business foundation disciplines, such as business environment, accounting and finance, operations, marketing, business information systems and people and organisational behaviour;
  • Evaluate and critique the range of activities within the key Business Management administration functional areas and their interrelationship and interconnectedness;
  • Analyse theories and concepts of strategic management, leadership and innovation within a changing environment.

Intellectual/Cognitive Skills

On successful completion of the programme a graduate will be able to:

  • Create, evaluate and assess options to enable effective problem solving and decision-making, using appropriate qualitative, quantitative and ICT
  • Deal critically with organisational issues and be able to produce solutions and action plans.

On successful completion of the programme a graduate will be able to:

  • Actively engage in business management and marketing briefs and activities that encourage enterprise and entrepreneurial capability.

On successful completion of the programme a graduate will be able to:

  • Research information about complex business situations and apply qualitative and quantitative techniques to it, in a project context, using ICT as appropriate.

    The objective of the award is to develop knowledge, skills and analytical ability of students to enable them to enter a successful career in business organisations. The general approach to the learning process involves:

    • Combination of lecture inputs
    • Workshops
    • Self-study and directed research and investigation

    The assessment strategy is designed to ensure the learning outcomes are achieved and that there is a progressive development of knowledge and skill.

    The assessment strategy is designed to ensure that learning outcomes are achieved and there is a progressive development of knowledge and skills. At Level 6 independent learning is more embedded and students develop depth of understanding via critical analysis and evaluation.

    Formative assessment is a key feature of the programme enabling early feedback to be given on progress and to help students improve performance. Assessment at all levels is by coursework, practical tasks and examination, with some modules being assessed by 100% coursework. The course is designed to give students opportunities to undertake work-based learning and enterprise activities which can form part of the learning and assessment of the programme.

  • ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

    For students progressing by the entry with advanced standing to Level 6, an overall Merit profile in HND Business Management, a Foundation Degree or a recognised overseas equivalent qualification is required. In other cases, applications for advanced entry with specific credits towards the degree will be dealt with under Buckinghamshire New University regulations and procedures.

    English Language

    For students from non-English speaking countries as defined by the regulators IELTS 6.0 or CEFR (The Common European Framework of Reference) B2 level and above in reading, writing, listening and speaking is required.

    Restrictions on Learner Entry

    The Pearson Edexcel BTEC Higher National qualifications are accredited on the Qualification and Credit Framework (QCF) for learners aged 18 years and over.

  • BUCKINGHAMSHIRE NEW QUALIFICATIONS

    On completion of the programme, students will be able to progress to a range of opportunities and careers in general management or developing their own business. The programme provides a broad background in the area of business and management, which offers the opportunity to focus on a particular area of interest for post-graduate study, either full-time or part-time whilst working, should the graduate wish to follow this route. Overall, this is a flexible business programme allowing students to prepare themselves for a professional role that suits their skills and interests.
