On the 10th of July 2025, Mont Rose College proudly took part in the Cumberland Community School Career Fair, where Noreen Malik and Vasilita Golban represented the institution with passion, purpose, and a clear message: it’s never too early to start thinking about your future in higher education.
The event, held at the heart of Cumberland School, aimed to inspire and guide students in Years 7, 8, and 9, reaching approximately 900 pupils across the day (300 per year group). With young minds full of curiosity and ambition, our team engaged with students on what college life could look like, the various career pathways available through Mont Rose College, and how education can unlock endless opportunities.
A Day Full of Discovery and Aspirations
Our stall was more than just an information point, an invitation to dream, explore, and start thinking ahead. Norren and Vasilita connected with students from all backgrounds, introducing them to the wide range of academic routes Mont Rose College offers in Business Marketing, Health & Social Care, Hospitality Management, and Digital Technologies.
For many students, this was their first exposure to the idea of higher education, and it was inspiring to see how quickly they engaged with the concept. The team fielded questions ranging from course content to what student life is like in college, how long a typical course lasts, and even what kinds of jobs students secure after graduation.
Engaging with Purpose and Positivity
To make the experience more tangible and memorable, the Mont Rose College team distributed a variety of branded materials to the students, including:
- Course leaflets – outlining entry requirements, pathways, and progression routes.
- Diaries and notebooks – encouraging students to jot down their goals and plans.
- PE bags and keychains – practical and fun reminders of the day.
- Pens and lollipops – small symbols that were enthusiastically received by all.
These giveaways weren’t just souvenirs but a way of planting seeds. Each item carried the MRC logo and contact information, gently nudging students to follow our platforms, learn more about what we offer, and consider us a serious option once they approach Year 11 graduation.
“It’s Never Too Early or Too Late”
One of the strongest messages conveyed throughout the day was that age is not a barrier when planning for the future. Whether students were starting Year 7 or approaching the end of Year 9, it was essential to reassure them that their aspirations matter and that there is a place for them in higher education.
Vasilita reflected on the day by saying, “What we saw today was incredible enthusiasm from the students. Many of them had never even thought about college, but by the end of our conversations, you could see their confidence growing. That’s what engagement is all about opening doors they didn’t know existed.”
Norren added, “It’s important that these students see themselves represented in spaces like ours. It’s never too early to imagine a future that includes higher education.”

Looking Ahead
The Cumberland Career Fair was not just another outreach event—it was a meaningful investment in the future of hundreds of students. Mont Rose College is committed to building bridges with local schools, ensuring that students from all walks of life understand that further education is achievable and accessible.
We look forward to welcoming many of these young minds in the coming years, whether through campus visits, workshops, or eventually as enrolled students. Until then, we will continue to be present in their schools, communities, and social media feeds, reminding them that Mont Rose College is here to support, inspire, and prepare them for a brighter future.
