On Thursday, 26th September 2025, Mont Rose College proudly organised a Macmillan Coffee Morning and Evening, bringing together both morning and evening students for a wonderful cause. The event was held in our cosy MRC Cafeteria, which was beautifully decorated in green and white to reflect the colours of Macmillan Cancer Support. Students and staff embraced the theme, many wearing green in a powerful display of unity and solidarity for people fighting cancer.
The Macmillan Coffee Morning is an annual fundraising tradition across the UK, supporting Macmillan Cancer Support, one of the nation’s leading charities for people with cancer. The funds raised help provide physical, emotional, and financial support to individuals and families during some of the most difficult times in their lives. At Mont Rose College, we believe in fostering a community spirit that extends beyond our classrooms, and this event allowed students and staff to make a tangible difference while enjoying a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
A Taste of Togetherness
One of the day’s highlights was the variety of delicious treats lovingly prepared and shared by our students and staff. The buffet was an international celebration of food, reflecting the diverse backgrounds of our Mont Rose community. The spread included:
- Traditional Moldovan cheese pie
- Banitsa, the well-known Bulgarian pie
- Sweet Bulgarian Baklava
- Classic Bulgarian Sausage Rolls
- A delightful Bulgarian cake
- Colourful home-made green mini-burgers
- Crispy Pakistani vegetable rolls and chicken rolls
- Flavourful Pakistani mutton and vegetable samosas
- Fresh English bakery favourites, alongside tea, coffee, and fizzy drinks
The variety of flavours on offer satisfied taste buds and served as a reminder of the rich cultural diversity at MRC. Every dish carried a story, whether of tradition, creativity, or simply the joy of sharing something homemade with friends.
Community Spirit in Action
The event wasn’t just about food and fundraising but togetherness. The cafeteria buzzed with conversations, laughter, and the clinking of teacups as students and staff gathered to support the cause. Wearing green created a sense of belonging, as though every participant was part of one big team working towards the same goal: to stand in solidarity with those battling cancer.
The cosy setting of the MRC Cafeteria, transformed with green and white decorations, added to the sense of comfort and community. Students expressed how much they appreciated having the opportunity to connect outside of their studies. At the same time, staff noted the value of creating moments where the college comes together for something meaningful.
Making an Impact
Thanks to the generosity of our students and staff, the money raised from the Macmillan Coffee Morning will go directly to Macmillan Cancer Support. These funds help the charity continue its incredible work in offering medical advice, emotional comfort, and financial assistance to those who need it.
At Mont Rose College, we are proud to know that our efforts will contribute, even in a small way, to such an important cause. Events like this remind us that small contributions can make a significant impact when we come together as a community.
Looking Ahead
The Student Engagement Department extends a big thank you to everyone who participated, donated, and contributed food. Your support shows that Mont Rose College is more than just a place of learning — it’s a community that cares.
We look forward to continuing this tradition in the years to come and building more opportunities for our students and staff to stand together for causes that truly matter.
