Valentine’s Day is more than just a celebration of romance—it is a day to appreciate love in all its forms, whether friendship, self-love, or community spirit. At Mont Rose College, we embraced this spirit wholeheartedly with a memorable Valentine’s Day event filled with warmth, laughter, and meaningful connections.
A Celebration of Love and Togetherness
College life can be busy and stressful, with deadlines, presentations, exams and assignments. Amidst the hustle, we sometimes forget to express gratitude and appreciation for the people who make your journey smoother- friends, colleagues, teachers and even ourselves. Valentine’s Day reminds us to pause and acknowledge these relationships that contribute to our well-being and growth.
To mark this special occasion, Mont Rose College hosted a Valentine’s Party, inviting students to take a break from their academic routines and immerse themselves in a fun-filled atmosphere. The event was held across two locations:
- 6th February at Shakespeare House
- 10th February at Mont Rose House
Both events provided students a welcoming space to celebrate love inclusively and enjoyably. With a red and pink dress code, students embraced the theme of love and friendship, creating a vibrant and festive atmosphere.
Winnie the Pooh and the Free Hugs
One of the event’s highlights was the “Free Hugs with Winnie the Pooh” experience. A simple hug can bring immense comfort and joy in a world where stress and academic pressures can be overwhelming. The Winnie the Pooh mascot added a nostalgic and heartwarming touch to the event, spreading positivity and bringing smiles to students’ faces. Many students participated enthusiastically, while others, though initially shy, found the experience heartwarming.
Heart-Shaped Sticky Memory Frame – Sharing Feelings and Gratitude
Another unique feature of our Valentine’s celebration was the Heart-Shaped Sticky Memory Frame. This interactive activity allowed students to write heartfelt messages—expressing gratitude to friends, sharing self-love affirmations, or even leaving anonymous words of encouragement for others.
This simple yet meaningful activity fostered a sense of community, reminding everyone that Valentine’s Day is not just about romantic love but also about kindness, appreciation, and connection. Many students felt inspired and deeply connected through the messages shared on the wall.
Music, Dance, and Valentine’s Cake
What’s a celebration without great music and delicious food? The Valentine’s Party featured a lively dance floor where students danced, laughed, and enjoyed themselves. The atmosphere was further elevated by a selection of free treats and pizzas, adding a sweet touch to the event.
The combination of music, entertainment, and great company made the evening a truly unforgettable experience.
Student Feedback: A Resounding Success!
The Student Feedback for the Valentine’s Day celebration at both campuses was overwhelmingly positive, with the majority rating the event as ‘’ Excellent’’ or ‘’Very Good’’. The students particularly appreciated the vibrant atmosphere, engaging music, and complimentary refreshments, contributing to a welcoming and enjoyable experience. The ‘’Free Hugs with Winnie the Pooh’’ initiative was well received, fostering warmth and positivity. Additionally, the Heart-Shaped Sticky Memory Frame was highly valued as a platform for emotional expression and community connection. Students commended the event’s seamless organisation and expressed a strong interest in similar future initiatives, underscoring the importance of social engagement and well-being within

Valentine’s Day at Mont Rose College was not just about chocolates and roses—it celebrated friendships, self-love, and human connection. Through carefully planned activities, from hugs with Winnie the Pooh to heartfelt messages on the Sticky Notes Memory Frame, we created an environment where students felt valued and connected.
