The atmosphere at Mont Rose College was filled with motivation and professional ambition during the recent Employability Masterclass delivered by Adele Gillies from Matrix and organised by the Employability Department. The session brought together students eager to strengthen their employability skills and gain practical insight into today’s competitive job market.
Rather than focusing only on theory, the workshop encouraged students to actively reflect on how they present themselves professionally and how they can stand out to employers. Through practical guidance, real-life examples, and interactive discussions, students explored ways to improve their CVs, optimise their LinkedIn profiles, prepare for interviews, and tailor applications to specific roles.
As the session progressed, students became increasingly engaged and confident, sharing ideas, asking questions, and applying the advice directly to their own career goals. Many students particularly valued the practical CV support, interview preparation techniques, and LinkedIn guidance, describing the workshop as informative, motivating, and highly relevant to their future careers.
The impact of the session was strongly reflected in student feedback. A total of 51 students attended the workshop, with 89% rating the session as Excellent or Very Good. In addition, 94% of students reported increased confidence in improving and presenting their CVs after the session. By the end of the workshop, students left with greater confidence, clearer career direction, and practical tools to support their progression into employment. The masterclass demonstrated the value of employer-led learning experiences and reinforced the College’s commitment to preparing students for long-term professional success.
