The atmosphere at Shakespeare House was welcoming and supportive during the recent Employability Monthly Meeting Café organised by the Employability Department. The session created an open and informal environment where students felt comfortable discussing their career goals, employability concerns, and future aspirations.
Rather than a formal workshop setting, the Café encouraged relaxed conversation and direct interaction, allowing students to explore the support available to them in a more personal and approachable way. Students had the opportunity to discuss CV support, placements, job applications, career fairs, and employability guidance while also learning more about how to access one-to-one consultations and future opportunities.
As the event progressed, students became increasingly engaged, asking questions, sharing experiences, and seeking advice tailored to their individual needs. Many students highlighted how supportive, welcoming, and helpful the environment felt, with several commenting on the friendly guidance and proactive assistance they received throughout the session.
The impact of the event was strongly reflected in the feedback collected. A total of 20 students attended the Café, with 95% of participants rating the support received as Very Helpful and 95% expressing Very High Satisfaction with the overall event. Students particularly valued the opportunity to receive immediate guidance and personalised employability support in an informal setting.
By the end of the session, students left feeling more informed, reassured, and confident about accessing employability services and progressing toward their career goals. The event reinforced the importance of approachable student support services and demonstrated the positive impact of creating safe and engaging spaces for career development conversations.
