Emilia Witka Represents MRC at Wanstead Community Planting Day
On a bright and cheerful Wednesday morning, 4 June 2025, Mont Rose College proudly participated in the Free Community Planting Day organised by the London Borough of Redbridge’s “Our Streets” initiative. Representing MRC at the Wanstead Station site was our very own Emilia Witka, Employability Coordinator, whose green thumbs and community spirit made a blooming difference!
The event, held just outside Wanstead Station from 10 am to 12 pm, brought together residents, families, and community champions with one goal: to make our public spaces greener, more beautiful, and more welcoming for everyone. Armed with watering cans, compost tips, and a passion for sustainability, participants planted vibrant flowers and shrubs into community planters.

Emilia joined in with enthusiasm, helping plant alongside residents while promoting environmental responsibility and employability skills through civic engagement. Her presence reflected MRC’s ongoing commitment to local partnerships and demonstrated how employability goes hand in hand with real-world action and community care.
“It was such a lovely morning of connection and collaboration,” Emilia said. “Being out here with the community, sharing knowledge about composting and sustainability, and seeing people of all ages get involved shows the power of small actions to make a big impact.”
The Wanstead event was part of a broader initiative across Redbridge, including a similar planting day in Seven Kings on 3 June. Both events welcomed residents of all ages and abilities to learn about composting, connect with neighbours, and take pride in shaping a greener environment.
We’re incredibly proud of Emilia and grateful to Redbridge Council for creating inclusive, hands-on opportunities for engagement. Mont Rose College looks forward to continuing our partnership with local initiatives that unite people, nurture nature, and community spirit.
Let’s keep growing together. 🌱
