Mont Rose College London is proud to announce the resounding success of its Research Conference on June 19, 2024. Themed “Sustainable Futures Powered by AI,” the conference served as a premier platform for exchanging ideas and insights, uniting esteemed researchers, industry experts, and thought leaders from across the globe.
Throughout the day, attendees engaged in thought-provoking keynote speeches, attended presentations and participated in interactive breakout sessions. The conference’s primary objective was to convene the academic community, bringing together renowned experts to explore the intricate relationship between sustainability, artificial intelligence, innovation, and ethical considerations.
Dr Alex Bols
The event was graced by distinguished keynote speakers who shared their expertise on various aspects of AI and sustainability:
- Dr Alex Bols, Deputy Chief Executive of Guild HE, with over a decade of experience in higher education policy and management, presented “Getting Beyond the Headlines: The Role of AI in Higher Education.” Dr. Bols’ extensive experience includes serving on the boards of several educational institutions and being a member of the Quality Assessment Committee at HEFCW.
- Professor David Baker, a leader in higher education with over 30 years of experience, discussed the “Impact of AI on the Future of Libraries and Information Science.” Professor Baker has served as Principal of Plymouth Marjon University and Deputy Chair of the UK’s Joint Information Systems Committee (Jisc), and he holds a Chair in Strategic Information Management at Plymouth Marjon University.
- Dr. Sajeel Ahmed, Senior Lecturer in Business Systems and Management at the University of Bedfordshire, spoke on “The Role of AI in Assessment.” Dr. Ahmed’s expertise includes digital technologies, information management, computer-mediated communication, and digital marketing.
- Aftab Zikria, an accomplished Business Solutions Enterprise Architect with over 20 years in London’s financial sector, delivered insights on “AI Driving the Future of Work.” Zikria specialises in Murex Business Architecture, cloud technologies, risk management analytics, and AI/ML data management engineering.
Poster presentation
In addition to the keynote speeches, the conference featured numerous presentations on topics such as AI’s role in mitigating climate change, sustainable business practices, and the ethical implications of AI technologies. These presentations fostered a rich dialogue among attendees, encouraging collaborative discussions and the exchange of innovative ideas.
