Bucks New University Vice-Chancellor cuts the ribbon on a new campus at Mont Rose College of Management and Sciences
The Vice-Chancellor of Buckinghamshire New University has cut the ribbon to mark the opening of a new campus in Ilford on the site of its partner organisation, Mont Rose College of Management and Sciences in Cranbrook Road, Gants Hill, Ilford.
Professor Rebecca Bunting joined dignitaries including Redbridge Mayor, Councillor Gurdial Bhamra, for the ribbon-cutting ceremony at the new Churchill House at the College’s North Campus, following a six-month renovation.
The new campus is in addition to Shakespeare House in South Campus at the College. Bucks New University, which is based in High Wycombe, accredits degrees in Accounting and Finance, Business Management, International Hospitality, and Law at Mont Rose College.
Prof Bunting said: “We are proud of our partnership with the College. It is very important to have excellent partnerships within communities to enable people to have access to a high quality education, because education changes people’s lives.”
Cllr Bhamra unveiled busts of Sir Winston Churchill and Abraham Lincoln outside the entrance, to act as motivation, and praised the role the College was playing in benefiting the community, ensuring it was ‘thriving and prosperous’.
Geoff Hill, Chairman of Redbridge Chamber of Commerce, was among other attendees and praised the ambition of Mont Rose Principal Bilal Sheikh to form a university in the borough of new campus in Ilford Redbridge for the welfare and wellbeing of the community.
Mr Sheikh added: “We are delighted to announce the opening of our new campus which will enable us to cater the growing needs of the local community. This was not possible without the ongoing successful partnership with Bucks New University.”
The College, founded in 2006, has more than 1,000 students and also offers HND qualifications in Hospitality Management; Business Marketing; Business Accounting & Finance; Health & Social Care; and a Diploma in Education & Training.
