Course Overview

This course is part of our Short Courses Series, especially designed to meet the needs of our local community and our students who also come from disadvantaged background.

The course will achieve a positive impact in ensuring inclusive and quality education for all and promote lifelong learning. Particularly, the course will increase the number of youth and adults who have relevant skills to manage their own finances (UN SDGs Target 4.4).

The course will achieve a positive impact in promoting just, peaceful and inclusive societies. Particularly, the course will ensure that participants, who are mainly less privileged have access to information in order to protect their fundamental freedoms, in accordance with national legislation (UN SDGs Target 16.10).

Who Should Attend?

This course is specifically designed for individuals, mainly our students and residents from our local community who wish to be equipped with the tools to budget for their finance and learn effective debt management strategies. The course uses a hand-on approach and on completion, participants will be better prepared to create personal budgets, keep track of their debts and chart a plan for debt reduction.

Course Contents

Part 1 – Personal Budgeting (3 hours)

  • Understand the benefits of a budget
  • Identify the steps involved in budgeting
  • Learn some techniques to make it easier to set money aside
  • Prepare your personal budget

Part 2 – Debt Management (3 hours)

  • Know the types of debts and the good and the bad of having debts
  • Implement effective debt management strategies
  • Prepare a debt management schedule for your personal debts and chart a plan for reducing your debts
