Graduate Role – A feeling that all recent graduates can relate to is the dread and uncertainty of stepping away from education and into the world of work.
Applying for graduate schemes is a great way to ease yourself into full-time work. Typically, a graduate scheme allows for more training than a normal role and can kick-start your professional career, rather than throwing you straight into the deep end.
Graduate schemes are often over a year and can go up to three years or more. Due to their educational nature, graduate schemes will allow you to get a feel of different positions within the same company.
Here are a few reasons why we would recommend applying for a graduate scheme to ouxr graduates!
1.On-the-job training
Graduate schemes are designed as entry-level jobs that instil skills in you and allow you to learn as an employee.
This could come in the form of 1-1 guidance, feedback from a manager and continuous support.
Some graduate schemes also provide a chance to gain a qualification – such as Masters, PhD or other industry-recognised courses.
2.Earning Potential
Graduate schemes offer rewarding salaries and will include most, if not all, regular employee benefits in their package to graduates.
Not to mention, there is a chance to progress quicker – especially on shorter schemes. In fact, it is not unlikely for your employer to offer you an opportunity within the same organisation upon the competition of your scheme.
3.Career Growth
Many well-known companies offer graduate schemes, such as Aldi, BBC, Shell and HM Treasury. You will receive company benefits as all employees do.
You will gain the relevant experience and training to put yourself in a more advanced role upon completion of your graduate role contract. Better yet, you will have had exposure to clients and partners from external organisations which you can network with when looking for your next step following the graduate scheme.
We would invite all our students and alumni to look into applying for graduate schemes. These can be hugely beneficial, as explained above and will only help your career for the better!
