Are you eyeing a future in the hotel sector?
There are certainly good reasons to do so! This area of work provides ‘plentiful opportunities‘ to both further your professional development and meet people from an amazing variety of countries and cultures. Working towards getting your dream job in a hotel can be a somewhat lengthy journey – but, with help from the hospitality management courses at our college in London, that journey can be a lot of fun in itself.
The hospitality management courses that we offer
Here at Mont Rose College, we offer two qualifications in hospitality management: a HNC, or Higher National Certificate, and HND, or Higher National Diploma. The former is delivered full-time over a year and comprises of 120 credits. However, you can opt to study for a further year – and another 120 credits – to pick up the HND, the equivalent of the first two years of a bachelor’s degree. This would leave you with an array of crucial knowledge and practical skills for excelling in the hospitality sector – and, of course, in the eyes of employers in the hotel industry, is a more attractive qualification all round.
There are various work paths to choose from
What kind of job would you like in a hotel? Perhaps you are interested in becoming a housekeeper or housekeeping manager, where your responsibilities would include making sure that the establishment is efficiently run and upholds stringent standards of cleanliness. Alternatively, you might wish to work towards becoming a hotel manager. This would require day-to-day management of the institution, typically including planning and direct hotel services ranging from front-of-house to food and beverage operations. In a larger hotel, however, you would likely have a more specific remit and work in a general management team.
Whichever particular role in the hotel sector you are interested in, we can help you to get it. Taking either of our hospitality management courses would require you to, in term time, spend 21 hours a week at our colleges in Ilford – and we recommend additional weekly 8-10 hours of home study during your time on either course. On-campus, you can also benefit from private study areas and a generous choice of online learning resources – while, off-campus, there’s a huge number of other resources that come as standard when you choose to study in London, a truly global city. We eagerly anticipate welcoming you here at Mont Rose College.
