On 9 June 2026, Mont Rose College proudly celebrated World Environment Day 2026, bringing together students, staff, community leaders, and environmental advocates for a day dedicated to climate awareness, sustainability, and positive action. Organized and hosted by the IMBA September 2025 cohort, with support from the Student Engagement Team, the event showcased the power of student leadership and community engagement in addressing one of the most pressing challenges of our time – climate change.
The event opened with a warm welcome from IMBA (International Master of Business Administration) students Angela Stavila and Iroda Ravshanovna Djunaidova, who guided attendees through an inspiring program focused on understanding climate change and exploring practical ways to create a more sustainable future. The audience was welcomed by Principal Ms. Sayeda Zain, whose opening speech highlighted the importance of education, innovation, and collective responsibility in driving environmental change.

A powerful environmental video introduced the theme of the day, reminding attendees that the planet is sending clear signals that can no longer be ignored. The message encouraged everyone to reflect on how individual actions, when combined, can contribute to meaningful global impact.
One of the highlights of the event was a thought-provoking presentation by Mr. Paul Kaufman, Solicitor Advocate and member of the Wanstead Climate Action Steering Group. Introduced by IMBA student Alfredo Rafael GerĂłnimo Feliz, Mr. Kaufman delivered an engaging talk exploring the history of climate science, the importance of evidence-based decision-making, and the challenges posed by climate misinformation. Drawing on his extensive legal background, he demonstrated how facts, research, and expert evidence play a crucial role in understanding and responding to climate change. He also shared examples of local environmental initiatives and encouraged students to recognize the impact they can make within their own communities.
The program continued with a presentation on the National Trust’s: Â Plant a Tree initiative, delivered by Vasilita Golban from the Student Engagement Team. The session highlighted the vital role trees play in tackling climate change by absorbing carbon dioxide, improving air quality, supporting wildlife habitats, and protecting biodiversity. Students were encouraged to recognize that even small actions, such as planting a tree, can contribute to a healthier and greener future for generations to come.
The College was honored to welcome Cllr Vanisha Bharti Solanki, Deputy Leader of the Council and Cabinet Member for Finance and Shared Prosperity at the London Borough of Redbridge, as Guest of Honour. Introduced by IMBA student Roza Joanna Kowalska, Cllr Solanki spoke passionately about the importance of environmental responsibility, community involvement, and empowering young people to become leaders of positive change. Her message reinforced the significance of local action in addressing global environmental challenges.
A key moment of the event was the launch of the Mont Rose College #ClimateAction Pledge. Students and staff were invited to commit simple but meaningful actions, including reducing plastic waste, saving energy and water, planting more trees, and encouraging sustainable practices within their families, workplaces, and communities. The pledge reflects the College’s ongoing commitment to sustainability and its determination to empower students to become environmentally conscious citizens.

Attendees also watched a special video message from Student Union President Samir Ali Jam, who encouraged the MRC community to continue raising awareness about climate change and to take practical steps towards protecting the environment. His message reinforced the idea that sustainability is not just a one-day campaign but a shared responsibility that requires continuous action.
The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by IMBA student Isaac Reed, who expressed appreciation to the guest speakers, students, staff, and organizers whose contributions made the day such a success.
World Environment Day 2026 was more than just an awareness event; it was a celebration of collaboration, learning, and action. Through insightful discussions, inspiring speakers, and student-led initiatives, the event demonstrated how education can empower individuals to become agents of change.
Mont Rose College extends its sincere thanks to the IMBA September 2025 students for their dedication and professionalism in organising and hosting the event, as well as to the Student Engagement Team, our distinguished guests, and everyone who participated.
Together, we are building a culture of sustainability, inspiring climate action, and taking meaningful steps towards a greener future.
Because protecting our planet is not the responsibility of a few – it is the responsibility of us all.
The planet doesn’t argue.
It doesn’t negotiate.
It sends signals.
